Hi, I'm Raiyan Abedin, a Software Engineer with a First-Class BSc in Software Engineering from the University of the West of England. I focus on full-stack development for web and mobile, backend systems, and working with early-stage teams to turn ideas into scalable, well-engineered products..
I build software with purpose, solving real-world challenges through thoughtful design and clean engineering. From building GlowCrew, a mobile marketplace connecting users with local vendors, to developing NuroFit, an AI-powered fitness app helping students start their fitness journey, I've learned that the best software doesn't just work, it solves problems people care about.
I'm drawn to startup environments where I can take ownership of features end to end, move fast, and contribute to meaningful products. My goal is to become a reliable engineer who understands the use cases behind what I build, anticipates edge cases, and writes code that lasts.

Junior Software Engineer
- ▹Full-Stack Mobile Developer for GlowCrew, a mobile marketplace connecting users with event service providers
- ▹Contributed towards the development of the backend using TypeScript and PostgreSQL, building core features such as the booking system, location filtering and vendor listing management.
- ▹Developed a shared library of reusable, responsive UI components, allowing for the development of user and vendor experiences to be seperate but functional.

Community Engaged Learning
Developer
- ▹Designed and built a functional website for the Community Engaged Learning Network, enabling UK Higher Education Institutions to share key resources, case-studies and opportunities into the community.
- ▹Collaborated with University of Nottignham and more CEL stakeholders to allow students consideirng higher education to have access towards different pathways. The site now hosts 10+ educational resources and case-studies.
UWE IT Services
Programming Lead (Student Data Continuity Project)
- ▹Project Lead for a UWE ITs program to develop a phsihing detection tool to help students prevent phishing attacks from emails and URls
- ▹Communicated with UWE ITS stakeholders through weekly sprints, presenting progress updates through live demos, gathering feedback and aligning technical goals with the client requirements.
- ▹Wrote documentation covering system testing, use-case scenarios and future maintanbility with improvements for the future of the project.

GlowCrew: A Mobile Marketplace
A Cross-Platform Mobile Marketplace connecting users with local event service providers. Built using React Native and TypeScript. Handles booking, image uploads and geolocation filtering with Supabase (PostgreSQL). Includes real-time messaging through Supabase Real-Time, Expo Push Notifications for booking and messaging alerts and secure payment processing through Stripe API. Designed to replace finding services through word-of-mouth and social media, allowing users to find and book services based on their location and needs whilst allowing vendors to list their services, upload images and manage bookings.
Dissertation Project: Awarded First-Class
NuroFit - AI Fitness & Nutrition App
Full-Stack AI-powered Fitness and Nutrition application delivering personalised workouts and meal plans. Built with React, Python Flask, and MongoDB. Implemented OpenAIs API for self-learning recommendations based on user progress and engagement data through PyMongo. Allows a user to build personalised workout splits, track their activity, visualise their progress through real-time dynamic charts using ReCharts and optimise their journey on one platform.
UWE ITS DATA CONTINUITY PROJECT
Phishing Detection Tool
Phshing Detection tool designed to identify and prevent malicious email and URL attacks. Built using Python, uses RESTFUL API integration to scan emails and URLs using Hunter.io and VirusTotal. Provides a detailed report with threat scores and real-time email/URL validation. URL scanner is backed by cybersecurity intelligence sources such as Google Safebrowsing, Kaspersky and more.
